Summer Fishing Report - Aransas Pass

The brutal temperatures of summer arrived early in the Redfish Bay area and the trick has been getting out early and making it happen before the hottest part of the day. Redfish have been consistent on the shallowest grass beds at the crack of dawn with some great Topwater action. Lots of bait fish along with shrimp and crabs are in the shallowest grass and the larger predatory fish are intermingled in that action. Speckled trout have been consistent along the drop offs that border the shallowest flats and drifting much deeper grass beds with intermittent sand holes while bumping the bottom with soft plastics have produced some great fish. Hit the shallows early and move to the deeper water as the heat rises and you should find some fish and be back on land in time for some lunch on the shade.
