Twenty plus years ago, CUT RATE SPORTING GOODS, INC. began in space less than 1,200 sq.ft. carrying general sporting goods.
Today, Cut Rate FISHING TACKLE UNLIMITED is still an independently owned retail store serving customers world wide with their tackle needs.

In early 1980, the company moved into a 12,000 sq.ft. space on Telephone Road near Hobby Airport with our efforts to better serve our fisherman customer needs. Then, in 1984, a second store was open in the west area of Houston, with stores operating as FISHING TACKLE UNLIMITED. In mid 1990 we opened GULF COAST TROLLING MOTORS next to our store on Telephone Road carrying an extensive selection of trolling motors, electronics and a Warranty Center for MotorGuide and Minn Kota.

Now in 2002, we have moved FISHING TACKLE UNLIMITED, and GULF COAST TROLLING MOTORS from Telephone Road to Gulf Freeway at Fuqua into a 33,000 sq. ft. building. It is said to be one of the largest independent fishing tackle store in the world. The millennium may have changed; but our goal is the same…to continue to provide all fisherman and fisherwoman with the best quality and selection of tackle. Our customers are not only local fisherman, but also those who travel from other countries. Our sales staff is experienced fishermen and fisherwomen and ready to give personal advice.
