Winter on the Texas Gulf Coast is in full swing. We just went through a few days of freezing weather and reports are floating around of fish kills along the middle and lower Texas Gulf Coast. I plan to take ride around the Sabine Lake’s shallow water areas to see how our shallow water Redfish and Trout are holding up. Luckly the upper coast has so much deeper water than a lot of the middle to lower Texas Coast that we shouldn’t have the same problem. Lets keep our fingers crossed on that one.
Before the freezing weather set in Redfish and Trout were being caught with great success wading or staking-out over shell and mud flats. With the bays vacant of shad and shrimp just look for the Mullet. Find the mullet and use your Stake-out Stik (http://lboutfitters.com/stake-out) to hold you on the fish and slow your lure retrieve.
Once this weather starts to warm the fish should really turn on. Get out and Stake-out.
