Calcasieu Report
Last week I had Bob Hardy and Doug Rutledge down from the Houston area.These two anglers are what I call true grinders.We fished Thursday until dark in a light rain.The water temperature was 51 degrees and the outside air temp was not much higher.
We started off in West Cove looking for big trout and found nothing but red fish on our first wade.We then headed to Big Lake and found a few big trout up to one pushing 8 lbs that Doug caught.We caught all of the fish on slow sink mullet imitations.
As of this posting most of the shrimp are gone and the bird action is winding down.Its big trout time on Calcasieu.The trout are now on a winter pattern and are holding on mud & shell.
