As this writer and guide updates my fishing report, we will soon have our first winter cold front. Winds are now in excess of 25mph from the NNW, which means approx 3-4 feet of water leaving the Galveston bay complex. Water temp continues to free fall, maybe in the high 40's by weekend.
Time to switch to your winter clothing and patterns. These fish will either bury up in mud or move to deeper waters............either way, time to slow down your presentation.
West Bay will hold good fish near the Pass and near Greens Cut. East Bay will recover near Robinson Bayou and the Wildlife on the north ridge........
Burnrett and Scott's bay, another great area with deep water access. Offitts Bayou and Moses Lake, offer deep water as well.
Using 1/4 to 3/8 oz heads from Bass Assassin or Fishing Tackle Unlimited own brand will work great, with a slow and steady retreive.
Colors need to be bright, like limetruse, cajun pepper, pearl or glow................Use paddle tails or Gulp.................
Use Sufix braid in 30 lb. Or maybe 20 lb. Replace your hooks with Gamakatsu, extra razor sharp tips.
All of our rods at Fishing Tackle Unlimited work. Use a fast tip in either 6'2", 6'6" or 6'9". The Green rod or its' brother, the silver one...............
Remember, it's winter time now. No more shorts or before dawn trips across Galveston waters.............
Merry Christmas to your familes
