Galveston Fishing Reports - Galveston Bay Fishing Guide
Fall Pattern along the Coast
October 6th, 2009
The last two weeks have seen several weak fronts. These fronts are beginning to drop the current water temp from the high 80’s to around 79 degrees today. Viisibility is awesome to about 18 inches.
Recent wading and drifting trips have resulted in near limits of speckled trout and redfish. This Galveston bay guide has seen increased numbers of fish over 25 inches. Good numbers of sow spec’s showing up near drains and bayou’s.
In East Galveston bay, near Robinson Bayou and the Wildlife, better bite has come on a outgoing tide. Fish also near Hodges Reef or Van u tun Is.
in Trinity bay.
Drifting the gas wells in Trinity bay, have produced near limits of speckled trout using soft plastics. Open reefs like Deep and Hannah’s have quality fish, should you elect to drift. Key are slicks and bait.
While wading, use She Pups or Baby Spooks in either black or chartruse. Soft plastic will continue to work after those top waters have done its job……………
Better colors are margarita, limetruse, plum or pearl.
Be careful, jellyfish still in the area, wear undershirt to avoid their sting. Shuffle your feet to avoid structure or rays…………………
Long pants and good foot shoes.
Boat traffic is lighter now with children back in school, bird season under way and folks are taking the time to get their leases ready for deer season.
Booking your fall trip will require two weeks notice, with a small deposit to hold those dates………
Stop by FTU(fishing tackle unlimited) and take a look and feel the new action on FTU Green Rod in the 6′2″ light action. Great backbone and easy to work those tops and tails……
We’re Fishing Again
September 21st, 2009
Recent days has this galveston bay fishing guide catching some quality speckled trout and redfish.
We are in East Galveston bay, using soft plastic and live croackers.
Mostly fishing the middle over good shell in about 6-8 feet of water. Temp is mid 80’s and visibility is about 10 inches. Winds are tough sometimes, but as long as they are under 20mph, good success.
Recent moon phase was great for early and often speckled trout and redfish to 25 inches.
Plastic colors are salt/pepper paddle tails and Gulp in limetiger or cammo.
Wells in Trinity bay are holding solid speckled trout and redfish for this fishing guide. Sun Oil and C-Lease are good.
More later this week………………..
