Off the Beach...and more!

Well, where do I begin….Let’s see.  Well, the winds have been light in the morning and by noon we have our 20mph plus, typical of South Texas.  Fishing has been great, but there have been a few days when you are grinding it out all day for a minimal amount of trout and reds.  Reds and trout have been all over the One Knockers, especially the bone and ockchiee shad colors.   The bone silver side She Dogs is also getting their attention. As for soft plastics, the Kelly Wigglers Ball Tail in pumpkin/chart, green red flake/ chart tail, and  chart/chart glitter/chart tail) with the FTU 1/8oz Chartreuse head jig heads.

The pattern has been early morning fishing in calf to mid-thigh water using top waters.  As the day warms up, we have been sliding in to the deeper cooler water using soft plastics.  The trout have been the typical summer fish pencil thin while the reds have been thick heavy tournament style fish.

On a different note there have been several days that we were able to run the beach front.  The action was nonstop.  Schools of bait were roaming anywhere for 1 to 4 miles from the jetties.  We picked up Spanish mackerel and kingfish.  One day we even came across a floating log that was loaded with chicken Dorado.  I look forward for days like that.  It is a change of scenery and something different.

I will post up another report in another week or two so please look out for it.
