Lots of reds on spoons on the east side of the bay. Trout fishing is ok. Lots of undersized trout are being caught. Mid range trout are being caught but as often. Drains with the Ladies

Posted on Monday, 10/28/13 3:03 pm by cnull
The fishing is wide open in Cajun country! The flounder are making there way to the passes. Most drains coming out of our marshes are holding a few and there are sweet spots if you know where they are. Birds are working over both Calcasieu & Sabine Lakes. Trout & reds are there and so are a few slimy gafftop if get unlucky. haha. Thanks, Capt. Bruce

We had a good day on redfish and a few trout. Joe Bordon of Houston and friend David Badger of Wimberly, longtime customers of mine, spent the day on the Matagorda Pennisular catching redfish and trout.  CaptainRonElkins  Professional Fishing Guide Captelkins@tisd.net 408 S. 12th P.O. Captain Elkins and Friends

Alice Evans and her friends Lizzie and Ashley fished with me Saturday. Fishing was a little tough as it has tended to be lately. We did manage to hook up to this 40 pound Jack Crevalle that gave Alice all she wanted on light tackle.  CaptainRonElkins  Professional Fishing Guide Captelkins@tisd.net 408 S. 12th P.O. The Weekend with Captain Elkins

Posted on Monday, 08/19/13 5:14 pm by cnull
I fished the surf around the Darlington wreck Friday and Saturday. On Friday I was with a group from San Antonio.  Limits of trout were caught by 10:00 a.m.  Saturday I was accompanied by Tom Moreman and his three sons. Limits of nice trout were caught 18 to 22 inches. Wind back up late Saturday which knocked out the surf as a place to fish because of wave height. Bay fishing has been a little slow lately. Unfortunately in Matagorda, the fish are not showing as strong as they have in previous Augusts. I am hoping for good trout fishing in September, during their minor spawn. ...

The Best Kind of Recovery with Captain Paul Marcaccio

Posted on Wednesday, 08/14/13 2:06 pm by cnull
The other day a good friend, Mike Heideiman, and I were looking for that elusive trout and redfish. I was using soft plastic Saltwater Assassinís and Mike was a Baby Super Spooks. We were intending on having heavy stringers. One moment the water below was calm, the next,  a gaping yellow mouth with two canine teeth seemingly appeared from nowhere to engulf the Assassin. The strike was as vicious as it was fast. Water splashed as the big trout dove under my boat, straining the GREEN  ROD and having Mike to turn to see what the commotion was all about and then grab the landing net. ...

Captain Ruben Garza is knee deep

Posted on Tuesday, 08/13/13 3:05 pm by cnull
Lately, fishing in calf to knee deep water has been the key.  We have been using Skitter Walk -8 orange or bone colored Topwaters.  When the sun is at its highest point, we start to sight and cast into big trout, as well as reds. Then we switch over to gold or silver spoons. We are also using Kelley Wiggler paddle lures on an 1/8 oz head. Capt. Ruben Garza Jr 832-385-1431 www.snookdudecharters.com

Weekly Update:  What a difference a day makes. Limits of solid speckled trout can be found on the south end of  Lake Calcasieu for anglers throwing live finger mullet or live shrimp. In terms of production August is one of our VERY BEST months for catching limits of trout. If you are into catching tackle busting Redfish, Big Lake is holding some huge schools for the taking right now. Donít miss this opportunity to get in on some great fishing between now and the end of August. Captain Buddy Oakes Hackberry Rod & Gun 485 Lake Breeze Hackberry, Louisiana - 70645 888.762.3391 Ė ...

Redfish at the Lake with Captain Bruce

Posted on Monday, 07/08/13 4:20 pm by cnull
Last week we had several days of light north wind & the fishing turned on. Good numbers of trout & reds were taken in the surf & also in the Lake. We were throwing MirrOlure She Dogs. The color did not seem to matter. Redfish were also plentiful on the East Shoreline. Schools of the redfish were chasing shad down into the grass. We were catching them on Kelly Wigglers Ball Tail Shad, Pearl/Chart-tail, 1/4 oz jighead. Here is Jacob Hooper pictured with his big redfish.

Red Fish with Captain Bruce

Posted on Friday, 06/28/13 2:58 pm by cnull
Our trout fishing has been a bit slow lately. I think it has something to do with the super moon. I'm hoping that it will improve on the back side of the moon.  Our wade fishing for redfish has been off the charts, which is exciting. We are catching them on Kelly Wigglers Ball Tail Shad on a 1/4 oz jig head. The color did not seem to matter. Most of the reds were upper end slot fish, with a few over sized. Fun to catch but tuff to clean! haha

6/24-6/28 with Captain Ron Elkins

Posted on Thursday, 06/27/13 4:25 pm by cnull
SUNDAY: I went fishing with Jerry G. and his wife Mary Beth. We were able to catch a nice box of trout for their dinner. We also caught a 38" redfish, which we released. Although wind was blowing pretty strong, we were able to have a good morning. TUESDAY: I fished with Fred and caught several nice trout and hit these nice redfish in knee deep water towards the end of the day. He said he was getting disillusioned after several keeper trout but then these bull reds came through and made the day. All in all, it was great day for everyone. WEDNESDAY: I had a great day on trout with ...

Yes, you can site cast in Galveston Bay

Posted on Monday, 08/15/11 2:42 pm by cnull
My trips are way to far and few, but this one was a quality trip with my wonderful husband and our ever faithful lab, Charley. The redfish weren't as cooperative as they had been for him the day before, but it was good enough for me. On Friday Capt Scott had seen schools of redfish agressively feeding on small white shrimp against the small islands in the marsh. The schools of redfish would circle the small islands several times with their backs out of the water pushing bait against the grass. On Saturday, the tides were lower and the winds were higher, they seem to stick to the windward ...

Fishing with Kids

Posted on Monday, 08/15/11 2:03 pm by cnull
After several long phone calls and a rescheduled date, Capt Scott Null finally got his chance to show a couple of boys how much fun fishing could be. At 8 and 5 y/o, there was a lot of planning that went into this trip. You have to be prepared for short attention spans and no patience for the hunt for fish. With a quart of shrimp, appropriate life jackets, lots of water and a good nights sleep, the gang was ready to hit the marsh in West Galveston Bay. With light spinning gear rigged for live shrimp, from the first cast the trip was a success. The first fish to start the party was a lady fish ...
